The Bristol Press – Hospital Foundation’s Wine Fest benefits emergency center project

BRISTOL – City socialites, Bristol Hospital donors and elected officials gathered for an official rally and fundraiser on Saturday night.

The Bristol Hospital Foundation Wine and Spirits Festival took place at DoubleTree by Hilton.

A total of 160 people attended, slightly less than in previous years due to the ongoing pandemic. They enjoyed the gourmet stations and a wide assortment of wines and spirits. Entertainment was provided by the Sharp 5 Jazz Band, with City Councilor Greg Hahn.

“This is the first in-person event hosted by the Bristol Hospital Foundation since the Red Carpet Ball in November 2019,” Mary Lynn Gagnon, Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation, told reporters. “The Wine & Spirits Festival was canceled in 2020 and moved to fall 2021 due to the pandemic. Guests were delighted to be back at this popular event, and there was an energy in the room as people tasted their wines and reunited with their friends. We are thrilled with the results and delighted to be able to provide our sponsors and supporters with a safe and fun event. ”

Gagnon also thanked Marv and Lorraine Friedman of Maple End Package Store for coordinating the wine vendors for the event, and a thank you to the event chair, Dr. Falco Scappaticci, of the festival’s main sponsor, Radiologic Associates.

The evening also provided a special tribute to the late Dr John Walker, who passed away in 2019 and who has been instrumental in founding and growing the event since its inception. The profits will go to the Emergency Center expansion and renovation project, which is expected to open by the end of the year.
