One year on from Joe Biden’s presidency: what have the Democrats really accomplished?
Written by Marsha Blackburn
Washington DC – Last week the country watched in disgust as the White House scrambled to explain the news of decades of high inflation. True to form, White House press secretary Jen Psaki refuse and hijacked instead of tackling the economic pain felt by most Tennesseans.
This rejection of reality, coupled with the administration’s relentless pivots in and out of the burning issues, begs the question: “What have the Democrats really accomplished?” ”
In Washington, the left has been so focused on creating a narrative for its progressive base that it has neglected the fundamentals of governance – and, ultimately, the people who put it in power. Congressional Democrats wasted an entire year trying to create the illusion of enthusiasm for their program, a feat they intended to achieve by refusing to recognize the damage caused by their frenzy of taxation and reckless spending. . While such indifference to the actual job of legislating is appalling, why would Democrats push themselves to do anything else?
When they turn to the president, they see someone who has abused his power to kill jobs, destroy our potential for energy independence, and let conditions along our southern border fall into chaos. Joe Biden’s failure to show real leadership served as an open invitation to elected officials from his own party to face all their political whims regardless of the consequences. Democrats in Congress have waged war on our most basic constitutional rights and provided legislative cover for dire policies that have shaken the economy.
Numbers published by the US Department of Labor last week showed just how abysmal their agenda is for the people they claim to represent. Consumer prices are up nearly seven percent from a year ago, and now they’re at their highest level since 1982. Since Democrats forced spending by $ 1.9 trillion in March inflation hit a four-decade high. The outlook is bleak and the Democrats’ political maneuvers are far from over. The White House is pressuring Congress to pass another spending bill. This time their “Build Back Broke” program is on the table.
The Democrats have made it clear that they are not working for us; they work for their progressive base. If they had even claimed to prioritize responsible spending, or if they had approached the debt ceiling in a reasonable manner, they might have been able to recoup some goodwill. But the American people live in the real world, where the burden of debt matters, and turning on a bill printer to cover the cost of wishlist items is not an option.
With nearly a year under their belt, Democrats know what to do to support the American people – but they are continually doing everything in their power to avoid it. No amount of favorable news cycles fabricated by the White House will solve the crises they have created. Rather than wasting another year shaping their public image, it’s time for the left to face the truth and stop making life that much harder for Americans.
