Messer wins Elite Realty Pro Stock 100 triumph

GEARY, NB – Ryan Messer claimed his second Pro Stock victory at Speedway 660 in as many races, winning the RE / MAX East Coast Elite Realty Realty Pro Stock 100 on Saturday night.
Messer, who won his qualifying race, pitted a competition yellow on lap 40 and wasted no time getting back to the top of the field. Messer would momentarily lose the lead to Kevin Moore in the final 20-lap sprint to the finish, but regained the lead for the last time on lap 86.
Moore finished second with Ian Rasmussen beating Dave O’Blenis and Brent Roy for the final podium.
âI didn’t expect Kevin to be this strong on the last run, but it was really fun,â Messer said of the run to the checkered flag. “It’s a great way to start our season and I hope we have more races like this.”
Richard Atkinson scored a popular victory in the feature film Late Model Sportsman. Atkinson beat reigning track champion Curtis Collins in a 40-lap no-warning event. Atkinson and Collins spent the last seven laps side by side before Atkinson got the final advantage before turn three on the last lap.
Courtney O’Blenis managed to beat her older sister, Alexandra O’Blenis, for the final podium. Clark Moore was fifth. Courtney O’Blenis and Collins won the qualifying race.
Shawn Hyslop got his first start of the season by winning the DMR Auto Street Stock feature. Hyslop picked up a convincing victory over Riley Goodwin and a close battle for third place which saw Rick Cashol beat Michael Cormier and James Matchett for the place. Matchett and Cormier won the qualifying race.
Malcolm Suley made his comeback at Speedway 660 and claimed victory in the 57t no. in the Sharp Shooters division of Fredericton Gun Shop. In a 26-car field, Suley masterfully steered the late traffic and kept BJ Gillespie far enough behind him to race for the checkered flag first.
Randy Titus was third, followed by first leader Darren Wilcox and Randy Storey. Matt Martin, Gillespie and Wilcox won the qualifying races.
Yves McCray returned to Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane in the Atlantic Modified Tour Bryn Enterprises 35. Joe Hoyt finished second on his home track with Zean Dutcher third in the affair without warning. Braxton Stafford was the winner of the qualifying race.
