Hubbard County DFL: Democrats have achieved a lot for Americans – Park Rapids Enterprise

“Democrats deliver.” This is the message conveyed by our billboard.

It is important to highlight the accomplishments of President Biden and Governor Walz. Despite unprecedented challenges and opposition from Republicans, much has been accomplished.

President Biden has restored America’s global leadership and taken aggressive action to address the climate crisis.

The Biden and Walz administrations have taken shots and saved lives.

The US bailout has provided pandemic relief to families.

Frontline workers delivered for Minnesota, getting our state through the worst of the pandemic, and now the Governor and the DFLs are delivering them by signing the Frontline Worker Bonus Act.

Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system and the DFL party team was proud to stand together as they went on strike for fair contracts.

And laws were passed that created jobs to rebuild crumbling infrastructure and put people back to work. Ironically, Minnesota GOP Congressman Stauber and Congresswoman Fischbach touted the grants funded by the infrastructure bill — which they both voted against.

Yes, inflation is on everyone’s mind. And the GOP will say anything to blame it on President Biden.

But the real truth, according to world economists, is that the rise in inflation is largely due to post-pandemic demand and the war in Ukraine.

Inflation is on the rise around the world, with food and energy prices hitting record highs. The rise was driven, in large part, by pent-up consumer demand following the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

President Biden has presented a plan to fight inflation. It is about cutting the costs families face and reducing the federal deficit by asking big business and the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.

And, part of President Biden’s plan to cut costs is to bolster Medicare by giving it the power to negotiate prescription drug prices.

He also authorized the release of one million barrels of oil per day from the strategic petroleum reserve for the next six months. President Biden has proposed a federal gas tax exemption and he has urged states to do the same. He called on Congress to require companies to pay royalties on unused wells and non-producing acres on federal lands — so companies that continue to sit on excess capacity will have to choose whether to start producing or stop. pay fees.

And while the GOP has opposed all of President Biden’s efforts, congressional Republicans have offered no real plan. Only Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) has come up with a plan “to save America.” But beware, the plan would require every major program to end every five years, then be voted on and passed again. That would put Medicare — in addition to Social Security, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act and other essential programs for American families — on the chopping block every five years.

And if the GOP has full control of Congress and the presidency, they could go ahead with one of their longstanding agendas to privatize Social Security.

Senate Minority Leader McConnel won’t say whether or not he supports the proposal, but simply said, “Ask me when we’ll take control of Congress and the presidency.”

So if the GOP is talking about ending Social Security, ending Medicare, banning birth control, banning gay marriage, cutting taxes on the rich while raising taxes on half of Americans, believe them. !
